Switzerland opts to hold violent extremism prevention conference in Dakar
The Swiss foreign affairs department is currently preparing a regional conference on dialogue and security in Africa, which will be held in Dakar in February 2023.
The presidents of Angola, Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau will take part in the 8th Dakar Forum on Peace and Security from 24 to 25 October. They will be joined by the foreign ministers of Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo and Saudi Arabia, as well as the French secretary of state Chrysoula Zacharopoulou.
Since Macky Sall came to power, the army has contributed strongly to Senegal's international aura. Through peacekeeping missions for the UN and close military cooperation with France, the army's political and military leaders, who have been hand-picked by the president, have been promoting the country's interests.
